Author Guidelines

Al-Madina: Journal of Islamic Law publishes high-quality and original scholarly works focusing on various aspects of Islamic law, including but not limited to Islamic family law, criminal law, constitutional law, economic and financial law, fiqh studies, and comparative law.

1. Manuscript Submission

  • Manuscripts must be submitted through the Online Journal System (OJS) on the journal’s official website.Authors must register before submission.
  • The manuscript must be original, unpublished, and not under review elsewhere.
  • Each submission must include: (a) The manuscript file (.docx); (b) Author information (name, affiliation, email address); (c) Abstract and keywords; and (d) references.

2. Manuscript Format

  • Language: English (mandatory)
  • Manuscripts must be written entirely in English.
  • Any non-English terms (such as ijtihād, maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah, qiyas, mu’āmalah, etc.) must be italicized throughout the text.
  • Length: 5,000–8,000 words (excluding references)
  • File format: Microsoft Word (.docx)
  • Paper size: A4, single column
  • Font: Candara
  • Margins: Left, Top, Right: 3 cm, and Bottom: 2,5 cm
  • Number of pages: 15–35 pages including tables, figures, and references

3. Structure of the Manuscript

The manuscript should be arranged in the following order:

  1. Title (Book Antiqua, 16 pt, Bold, concise and informative, max. 16 words)
  2. Author(s) Name (Book Antiqua, 12 pt, Bold, max. 5 authors)
  3. Author(s) Affiliation (Book Antiqua, 12 pt)
  4. Abstract (Book Antiqua, 11 pt, 150–250 words)
  5. Keywords (Book Antiqua, 11 pt, 3–5 words)
  6. Introduction (including background, problem, objectives, and literature review, Book Antiqua, 12 pt)
  7. Metods (Book Antiqua, 12 pt)
  8. Results and Discussion  (Book Antiqua, 12 pt)
  9. Conclusion  (Book Antiqua, 12 pt)
  10. Acknowledgements (Book Antiqua, 12 pt)
  11. Disclosure Statements (Book Antiqua, 12 pt)
  12. Author Contributions (Book Antiqua, 12 pt)
  13. References (Book Antiqua, 12 pt, minimum 25 sources consisting of 85% journal articles and 15% books)

4. Abstract and Keywords

  • Abstracts should describe the research objective, method, main findings, and conclusion.
  • Written in English (150–200 words).
  • Include 3–5 relevant keywords, separated by semicolons (;).

5. Citation and References

  • The journal follows the Chicago Manual of Style 17th edition (full note) reference style.
  • References must be consistent and include only cited works.
  • Authors are encouraged to use reference management tools (e.g., Mendeley, Zotero, EndNote).

6. Tables and Figures

  • Tables and figures should be numbered sequentially (Table 1, Figure 1, etc.).
  • Each must include a clear title and, if applicable, a source.
  • Visuals should be embedded within the text.

7. Ethical Statement

  • Authors must ensure originality and avoid plagiarism.
  • All manuscripts will be screened using Turnitin.
  • Any potential conflict of interest must be declared.

Important:
Authors are required to use the latest official article template provided by Al-Madina: Journal of Islamic Law. The template can be downloaded from the journal website under the “Template” or “Submission Preparation Checklist” section. Manuscripts not following the latest template or language policy will be returned before review.

The Arabic-Latin transliteration in this journal follows the Surat Keputusan Bersama (SKB) Menteri Agama RI dan Menteri Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan RI No. 158/1987 dan No. 0543b/U/1987 concerning Arabic-Latin Transliteration.
